Our community
Our School families are part of the parish and wider community at Barmera. Families are actively involved in a range of local community events, such as:
- Sport – children are involved in a range of sporting clubs across the local region.
- Barmera markets – The local community holds the Barmera market on a monthly basis. The school is sometimes involved in assisting with stalls for local service groups.
- Fund-raising for community groups – this includes events such as World Youth Day, where the local community supports young people wishing to take part in this international event.
- Mini Vinnies – children take part in activities to raise awareness and funds for people in great need.
- Local Nursing Homes: Children visit the local nursing homes several times each year to get to know and spend time with the residents, and to sing to them.
- Catholic Women’s League – This is a group of women belonging to the parish who are involved in doing good works. They meet at the school on a monthly basis.
- St. Vincent de Paul Conference – We have a local conference in Barmera, and the group provides practical and physical support to families in need, either by home visits, the provision of clothing etc.
